Next Ideas helps answer the question every creator faces: "What should I make next?" Instead of relying on intuition or chasing trends, you get suggestions grounded in what's actually working for your channel and your niche, so you can see which ideas are most promising.
Next Ideas: How It Works
Not sure what video to make next? Next Ideas takes the guesswork out of it. It analyzes your channel and your niche to generate a ranked list of video ideas, each backed by data showing why it's a good fit for your channel.
Who has access?
Next Ideas is available across all paid tiers during beta, with monthly generation limits based on your plan:
- Starter – 1 generation/month
- Pro and Star – 3/month
- Legend – 15/month
Where do I find it?
Next Ideas is located in the TubeBuddy web app, under Grow Audience in the left sidebar. You can also go directly to tubebuddy.com/labs/next-ideas. Your Saved Ideas and Niches are in the same section.
How does it work?
- (Optional but recommended) Set your niche — a group of channels that represents your space.
- Click Generate Ideas.
- Next Ideas analyzes your channel and niche data and produces a ranked deck of video ideas.
Each idea card shows a "why this surfaced" explanation along with the underlying signals behind it, including niche outlier data, keyword competition, and audience match. Open any card to see full details, then save the ideas you like and pass on the ones you don't.
Do I need to set a niche?
No — you can generate ideas using just your channel data. That said, setting a niche is recommended, especially if you have a newer or smaller channel, since it gives Next Ideas more context to sharpen its suggestions. You can add, edit, or change your niche at any time.
How are ideas ranked, and what does "audience match" mean?
Ideas are ordered by the strength of their supporting signals, such as whether the format is a proven outlier in your niche, how competitive the topic is in search, and how closely it fits your channel. Each idea also shows an audience match percentage reflecting how well it fits your channel and audience. These are meant to help you prioritize; you're still the creative decision-maker.
Are these just generic AI-generated ideas?
No. Every suggestion is built from your channel's actual performance and your niche context, not generic prompts. That's the purpose of the "why this surfaced" reasoning on each card: it ties the idea back to real data from your channel and niche.
What can I do with an idea I like?
Save it to your Saved Ideas list so you can revisit it later. You can also manually add your own ideas there with a working title and an optional note on why it stands out, making it a home for both Next Ideas' suggestions and your own.
What are Niches?
A niche is a group of channels representing your space. Setting one helps Next Ideas tailor its suggestions to your audience.
To create a niche:
- Go to the Niches section under Grow Audience.
- Give it a name and description.
- Add channels by searching, pasting a channel link, @handle, or video URL.
- Use Find Similar to discover creators similar to the ones already in your niche.
You can create multiple niches and edit or update them anytime.
Is Next Ideas a finished feature?
Next Ideas is currently in beta, which means it's fully usable but still evolving. We're actively refining it based on creator feedback, so you may see updates and improvements over time.
